We purchased him a very long time ago (20 + years) at a local auction house in Worcester, England, along with the other Welsh Pony bisque sculpture and the Basset Hound which we are also auctioning. They were part of the same lot.
The two Welsh Ponies have slight differences with this one having a longer forelock and more mane on one side, and also a smooth base. He also has 'fluff' sculpted under his head. We don't know who produced them, or who he was sculpted by. We think from the differences between the two that they were perhaps trial pieces.
This one has been off the base and glued back on. The bisque is a little discoloured in parts.
A very rare piece. Check out his 'brother' who were are also auctioning - they make a great pair. I have included a photo of the bisque photographed next to a Traditional scale Valentin so you can see the impressive size. The Valentin is not for sale and not included in this auction.
We can offer two time payments if needed - half at auction end with remainder due 30 days later.
